WARDROBE AS COMMUNICATION
Fashion has always been a way of self-expression. For children and youth, particularly teenagers, wardrobe influences how teenagers perceive themselves and how they want to be viewed by others. Fashion choices inclusive of accessories become a language through which many teenagers can find a sense of belonging and social networks. See:

WARDROBE AND MENTAL HEALTH
Fashion choices, including accessories, affect thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Indeed, we often dress in ways that match our mood. Think cozy sweats vs. power suit. Fashion psychologists call this, “Enclothed Cognition. “
There’s also “Dopamine Dressing,” grounded in social psychology, in which we choose colors, fabrics, and accessories that make us feel our best to intentionally lift spirits. A red dress or power suit makes you feel competent, strong.
Color Theory, the scientific impact of color on our mental state, also is well-documented. That same red dress, or red anything, is most stimulating on the brain and has been found to improve performance on detail-oriented tasks.
Of course, people are as different and diverse as their wardrobe choices. A certain style, color, or fabric won’t affect everyone’s state of mind the same way. It is for this reason and with honor that anything that affects our mental state is a powerful tool that PB2S offers choice and the same shopping experience for our families as all families can experience.
